SORTBJØRN & GRIZZLY
4Hunt believes that despite there being major differences between Grizzly vs Black Bear, it can still be difficult to distinguish these two bear species from each other. This is because the black bear can vary in all shades of color ranging from completely light over light brown and the entire scale up to dark brown. Therefore, a black bear can look like a Grizzly in terms of color.
It is important to learn to see the difference as grizzly bears are protected in Canada Alberta and currently. i british columbia - BC
Some of the places 4Hunt hunts in Alberta, you can meet Grizzly bears, however, it is rare that 4Hunt's customers meet these magnificent bears. Partly because they are not nearly as numerous as the black bear, and this factor that they do not bother our spectacle.
4Hunt does not offer hunting for Grizzly bears. Well enough, we have a territory in BC with a license to hunt the bear, but since the Grizzly population has been under a bit of pressure over a long period of time, as well as several hunting opponents spoke out against hunting the Grizzly, the province chose to ban this hunt. I wonder if it will reopen again at a time when the stock is growing every year.

Look for differences in size and color when it comes to bear hunting. Black bears are available in several colors from completely light beige and all the way through the brown direction of the color brown-black, black, dark brown, brown, cinnamon and albino. but there may be factors that make you doubt when you are in the situation. From a long distance, grizzly bears can easily deceive your eyesight and appear black without being so. One can quickly get confused if a dark brown grizzly bear is standing in the shadow side where it might well be mistaken as being a black bear. There is only one black bear that can be completely deep black in color.
The best indicators that 4hunt can mention to see the difference between a grizzly and black bear are the size difference between these 2 bear species. A black bear may well weigh up to 250 kg but this is rare. However, it is 100% certain that the grizzly is simply larger and more compact in appearance than the black bear (look at the pictures) the profile of the face is wider and seems shorter. The grizzly has a much more widespread hump on the shoulder, this is especially evident when it looks down, for example when it aces. In particular, its claws are significantly longer than the black bear.

On the bear hunts in Canada with 4Hunt, we see an incredible number of paw prints in nature. There we will always spend the time to see if there could be a grizzly moving around the territory. We have not yet experienced this, but for the sake of safety we always check if this could be the case.
If you are a hunter sitting alone at your post, use your binoculars well. Look for size, hump and head size. An adult grizzly bear has a broad head where the ears are far out on the side of the skull, and actually seem very small compared to the black bear. If in doubt, always consult the 4Hunt guides who have many years of experience with bear hunting.
But again, do not despair as we see very few grizzly bears in Alberta. Whereas they are more prevalent in BC
